CAPC COMMUNITY INITIATIVE WITH CRIEC
(Calgary Region Immigrant Employment Council)
Last year CAPC partnered with an organization known as CRIEC to introduce coaching into their flagship mentoring program for internationally trained professionals. This partnership was developed primarily through the work of one of our CAPC members, Barb Francis, who has been involved extensively in the not-for-profit sector and mentorship programs.
After an initial recruitment, several CAPC coaches were involved in deveoloping and delivering a workshop that introduced key coaching skills to mentors in the CRIEC program. As well, there was a roster of volunteer coaches who participated in an orientation session as preparation for providing coaching to the participants in the mentorship program. Our partnerships with CRIEC and also Bow Valley College have continued to grow, and this February during International Coaching Week, CAPC, along with these two organizations showcased coaching through an event entitled "Coffee With a Perk".
Recently the initiative with CRIEC has expanded to include the role of a Coaching Program Coordinator. The Coordinator has been involved in working with CRIEC's community partners, mentors, and mentees as well as CAPC volunteer coaches to launch coaching to a recent cohort of mentoring duos. To date there have been a number of coaching matches established, and we look forward to continued growth and development of the program.
To accommodate future demand, CRIEC is currently recruiting any CAPC members who are interested in participating in this exciting partnership. For further information regarding this opportunity, please contact Lisa Dare at 587-894-7582 or admin@criec.ca
